Meet my beautiful cousin Heather and her new handsome husband James! Heather + James have known each other ever since they were little tykes! A few years after high school they fell in love, James left to serve a two year church mission in Chile Santiago, Heather waited for him, James came home, proposed, now they get to be married!:) I love their story...it's definitely one of patience and endurance, and displays genuine passion.

Heather + James were married at the LDS Temple in Santa Monica, the details of their day were nothing short of amazing..seriously! I'm going to take a moment (ahem...clear my throat) to brag about my family and how well they can pull together to put on a amazing wedding. Many may already know that I basically grew up in the wedding industry with my grandparents who started a catering company and opened up a gown shop in the 1950's. Now, fifty plus years later, I have uncles and cousins that cater, cousins that are amazing florists, make-up artists, dj's, bakers, photographers, ALL family! You name it, we got it and we do it for the wedding industry!! Anyway, Heather + James' wedding really showed the beauty of family pulling together to make their day a dream come true (plus, James' dad and grandpa can make some killer meatballs)!

It was crazy, but still the wedding came together beautifully!
jh_blog_020.jpgNotice two dresses, Heather wanted me to take a few shots of her in her mother's wedding dress, this was the dress Heather chose to be married in.
jh_blog_021.jpgjh_blog_022.jpgjh_blog_023.jpgMy favorite shot of the day, taken by Justin!
jh_blog_024.jpg
Oh, the details:) Heather + James went with a colorful vintage circus/carnival feel. There was a candy bar, an old fashioned soda bar, a cotton candy station, a few old-mobiles, and a bunch of huge balloons.

Heather + John were married on February 20th at the Center Club in Costa Mesa. I loved the classic look of their wedding day and the venue just added to that. Justin and I showed up to the Hyatt in Huntington Beach to catch some pre-ceremony shots and the first thing I discovered when I walked into Heather's suite were the mounds of scattered yellow rose petals John had left for her earlier that morning. It was a fun detail that started the day off on the right foot.

I give you Mr. & Mrs. Stratman!

My cousin Sam married the lovely Nikki on January 16th, it was mine and Justin's first wedding of 2010 and it was the perfect way to start out the new year! I especially enjoyed their wedding because I was able to see Sam marry his sweetheart. Knowing the series of the events that brought these two amazing people together made this day all the more special, and believe me, when they officially tied the knot, there wasn't a dry eye in the room! Our family is beyond excited to have Nikki and her two beautiful daughters be part of us, and we are even more excited that Sam is happy!

Behold....the last wedding of 2009!!! Amanda + Ray were married on November 21st and we had been anticipating this wedding for quite some time! Amanda + Ray booked us at the beginning of 2009 when they attended the one and only bridal show Justin and I have ever been a part of at The Mission Inn in Riverside. We're so glad that we participated, otherwise we would have never met this sweet couple! At the end of their wedding day we were super pleased and felt even more accomplished that our last wedding of the year was fantastic! I'll say it again, 2009 was an amazing year!
arwed001.jpg
Nicole DeAnne did the hair & make-up...of course!
arwed002.jpgAmanda was beyond giddy to get married, I loved hearing her squeal with excitement once she had her dress put on!

arwed003.jpgSince Justin was m.i.a. that day I had Jason Roger and Emily Ruth of RogerRuth photography come out to help me, I love these next three shots Jason Roger took of Ray getting ready. I thought it was rad that Ray scheduled an old fashioned shave for his big day!
arwed004.jpgarwed005.jpgarwed006.jpgThis was an emotional moment. Since Amanda's father had passed away three years prior, she walked with her mother and had her father's two best friends pass her a white callalily as she made her way down the aisle toward Ray.
arwed007.jpgarwed008.jpgarwed009.jpgarwed010.jpgarwed011.jpgarwed012.jpgarwed013.jpgarwed014.jpgarwed015.jpgMy favorite item of the day...Amanda's late father's restored 1956 Ford Pick-up! "Angel" is Amanda's father's name and it was one of his dreams to restore this Pick-up, but unfortunately circumstances did not allow enough time, so Amanda's Uncle had it restored just in time for the wedding! It was a great addition to the wedding day!
arwed016.jpgarwed017.jpgarwed018.jpgarwed019.jpgarwed020.jpgMy favorite shot of the day!
arwed021.jpgarwed022.jpgarwed023.jpgarwed024.jpgarwed025.jpgarwed026.jpgarwed027.jpgarwed028.jpgMy second favorite shot of the day!
arwed029.jpgThe reception was held at Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills.
arwed030.jpgarwed031.jpgarwed032.jpgarwed033.jpgarwed034.jpgarwed035.jpgarwed036.jpg

Jennifer, I originally learned the basics of off camera flash from the amazing Nate Kaiser of The Image Is Found. From there Justin and I have been experimenting and come up with a few of our own twists.

Your work is outstanding. I know you run workshops etc in the US. Do you have anything like that available on dvd or some other medium for folk who cant make these workshops, pretty tough when you stay in the UK :) Id love to see how you work and also your use of OCF, Post Processing and what gear you use. Keep it up. John

I check in on your blog fairly frequently and just realized today that your husband is going down to Haiti, and that he speaks Creole! Between me and my husband, we've been to Haiti 7 times in the last four years and we would be there right now if we could. It helps me not feel so helpless to know that there are people I "know" who are there, especially people who understand the people and the culture. I think so many want to go but once they get there, won't know what to do because they don't understand Haiti. So thank you.

Jennifer + Sebastien wedding is #3 out of the last four weddings to blog from 2009 and its a good one:). Of course it was an amazing day, how could anyone go wrong with a wedding set in Maui?! Jenn + Seb were married on November 10th of 2009 at lovely house off the shore of Kihei in Maui. Justin and I were particularly looking forward to their wedding because we ended up making a vacation out of it and stayed for six days! This was my first time to Hawaii so I was giddy the entire time!

On top of sharing such a wonderful day with Jenn + Seb, we had the best sky to work with as a backdrop and the ENTIRE group in attendance at this wedding were the sweetest, most loving friends and family one could ever meet! This was such a good day all around!

jsblog002.jpgjsblog003.jpgNicole DeAnne joined us on the trip and Jenn ended up hiring her to do the hair + make-up for the wedding day. I thought Jenn looked gorgeous!
