Our last LYON-SHOP was held on February 19th in Las Vegas. Here's a recap of the two shoots we did with all of the attendees. A HUGE thank you to our models Emmy & Josh who drove down from Provo, UT to join us that day!
We covered everything from creative use of natural light, to rocking the off camera flash, what lenses we like you use and when, as well as posing and interacting with our subject.
LOVED all of our attendees that took time out of their busy lives to come all the way to Las Vegas to learn from us! THANK YOU to all of them and we are humbled to have spent such a sweet day with such a wonderful group of people!

Happy New Year everyone! I wanted to do a quick post featuring images from our last LYON-SHOP that took place in Manhattan Beach at the Shade Hotel. Also, for anyone still interested, we DO still have seats open for the LYON-SHOP in Las Vegas on February 19th, CLICK HERE to reserve your seat asap! You can also get more info about our workshop by visiting our LYON-SHOP site!
On the day of the LYON-SHOP we conduct two live shoots. The first live shoots we covered creative use of the available light, working with your subject, client interaction, creative use of shadows, different lenses for different situations, and posing. We were lucky enough to have two different couples model for us that day!
After the first shoot was finished we headed back to the classroom and covered post processing, workflow, business marketing, business etiquette, album design, and conducted a live mock client meeting.
On the second live shoot we covered more client posing, off camera lighting, more practice with different lenses, and lens flare.

Wow, I can't believe it's already that time again to announce our next LYON-SHOP to take place in LAS VEGAS just before the big WPPI Convention! Who's in for a good time with us on FEBRUARY 19TH, 2011?!
The week we spend at the annual WPPI Convention is definitely one of our favorite weeks out of the whole year. It's a great place to learn, network, and meet fellow photographers in the industry! So if you're planning on going, or even thinking about attending a LYON-SHOP in the future, why not kill two birds with one stone and attend both?!

Jesse Tenorio (one of our attendees) literally threw himself in front of my camera while I was in the middle of a shoot, catch the next photo to see the shot he got! Justin and I wanted to demonstrate how to shoot creative candids at a reception, so we had to do a reenactment of wedding guests dancing, so funny!
LOOOOOOVED all the attendees that came that day! Everyone got along so well and the sparks just continued to fly all day long! Thank you to all those that took time out of their busy lives to come and learn from us!

I actually don't know of any specific books that teach off camera flash the way we use it. We learned from others and then added our own flare to it. I promise I'll teach it to you when you get to attend a LYON-SHOP:)

I think I read a comment above that he lived in Chicago. I think Atlanta would be a good location.... for the east coast people to travel to. What do you think?
