First of all, before I go forward with this next post, I just wanted to take a moment again to say THANK YOU to everyone for the outpouring of love and all of the heartfelt comments on our last blog post about my father's passing. We have felt an overwhelming amount of caring and warmth from so many people, it is hard to be down when we feel so much support surrounding us. Each comment has been a ray of sunshine and it is much appreciated! Now onto to good stuff:
Recognize Virginia + John?! Check out the engagement session we shot with them back in February.
The two years was WELL worth the wait, what a great day! Click here to view more photos with their online slideshow.

Wowzers, we LOVED this wedding from the moment it started until the moment it ended! Ever since their engagement session, we've grown to adore Nancy + Edward. They have been nothing but sweet and kind to us through every interaction that we've had!
Nancy + Edward were married on June 13th. We started the day off at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica for prep shots and the first glance, then headed over to the ceremony at the Bel Air Presbyterian Church , and last we enjoyed a gorgeously dressed reception at the Skirball Cultural Center Museum. This is probably one of my favorite prep shots I've ever had the chance to be a part of!

Love this sweet moment with Nancy and her mom.

It was SUCH a sweet pleasure to work with Anna from Events Of Love & Splendor, they did an amazing job coordinating the day, I would HIGHLY recommend them to all of my future clients!

OK, Amelia -
The first shot must have been a comp, right? I'm practically brand new to photography, but I'm almost positive physics don't permit two separate focal fields from one lens. Was it a comps of two shots on a tripod? Did you manual these?

First off, Darlene + Jerrold were such a sweet couple to work with for their engagement session, and after getting to know them, it made their wedding day feel like a breeze! They were married on May 23rd in Laguna Niguel and had a BEAUTIFUL reception that followed at The Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach.
While Justin made his way to the Hyatt Regency I met up with Darlene at her parents' house for some prep shots. The first two things I got to capture were her AMAZING designer Christian Louboutin shoes with the signature red sole and an even more AMAZING designer Monique Lhuillier wedding dress!

I was happy that Darlene had Nicole DeAnne out to work her artistry on Darlene's hair!

Darlene + Jerrold's dog Buddha, he wasn't allowed to attend the ceremony and reception so Darlene made it a point for me to take a portrait of her and him.

The party bus!!! I literally could feel the vibrations on my rear-end from the bass of the music they were pumping out!

Both Darlene + Jerrold are avid shoe collectors. You already saw Darlene's Christian Louboutin's, but if you look close you'll also see Jerrold's Michael Jordan "Space Jams"!

*Sighhhhh*, it was such a great day! Check out more photos by clicking here for the slideshow!

I met Lin + Jonathan through their sweet wedding coordinator Carolyn Chen from The Special Day, Inc. I always feel so flattered when wedding coordinators refer me because I realize the large amounts of vendors coordinators work with on a day-to-day basis and to be referred among the many is a huge deal in my eyes!

Jonathan surpised Lin with two things during the ceremony: 1. doves that were set free at then end of their vows and....
An amazing detail shot by Justin of the sun rays peaking their way out of the clouds...I want to enlarge this and print it off for somewhere in my house:)

I especially enjoyed the live big band Lin + Jonathan hired for entertainment at their reception, it added so much to the character of the night...Pat Longo, loved you!
Thanks again to Lin + Jonathan! Don't forget to check out their online slideshow by clicking here. Also, I wanted to leave you all with a fun email I received from Lin just a few days after their wedding:
Lin + Jonathan were married on May 16th at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. The weather was slightly overcast, but ended up working to our advantage. Justin and I had a great day with this sweet couple. We didn't really know what to expect since the couple had been traveling from China and we weren't able to book an engagement session, so we were super happy with the day's turn-out at the end of the night. Here are some of the highlights from their wedding day:
Hi Amelia!
How are you doing? :) Thank you so much for your wonderful work at our wedding. Jonathan kept on saying "Amelia's work is the best part of the wedding" "It was so worth it!" afterwards. :)
thank you!!
Lin
Jason Roger said:
WOW!! What!!! I'm the first to put up a comment, what a treat. Well Lin is for sure right.. being that I was there, that your work is the best part of the wedding. And YES, that picture that Justin took of the sun rays coming thru the clouds was re-donk-u-las!!!
Keep rocking Amelia Lyon!

I'd be so afraid that the doves would get nervous and unload on a guest. What if you got a bill in the mail for some dry cleaning because it was your fault that the doves came out and went terd on someone. Oh man! I love that dove shot though. Maybe I should rent some doves for our next date night. We like walk out of a sushi joint and 12 doves are released. Awesome. Where do the doves go? Are they like a throw away camera? You use them once and then...BOOM, gone?!

Nicole + Rich decided to tie the knot in Newport Beach at the Balboa Inn on April 25th. We never really noticed this quaint hotel facing the ocean, but immediately fell in love with its romantic and intimate setting. What made the day even better was working with Nicole + Rich, they were so easy to photograph and ever since their engagement session we were happily looking forward to the wedding day!
We set up a first glance for Nicole + Rich and it was the perfect way to kick off such a rad day!
My favorite shot of the day!
One of my favorite moments of the day was during the ceremony when a very emotional vocalist was saved by her husband (groomsman) to help her finish the song...it was pretty sweet!

Wow, fantastic job! This is one of my favorite wedding collections I've seen in a long time. I look at a ton of these types of posts on a lot of blogs and this post really stands out from others I've seen lately. Well done!

I love Nicole's face in her door portrait--it definitely made me giggle at my desk, whoops. And the M&Ms both fascinate and scare me... it's amazing what they can do these days!
Do you by any chance know what shoes she's wearing (the blue ones)? I'm looking for ones in just that gorgeous color...

At a less mature stage in my life I would have said Lime Green should just stick to showing up in Jell-O dishes at church functions, but now I know. It belongs in unreasonably cute bridesmaids dresses as well.
And wonderful job photoing it :)

I'd bedazzle my initials all over this one. Hot couple!!! The bride and groom are not so bad themselves. Haahah. See what I did there. I led you to believe that I was talking about the bride and groom in the first place, but in all actuality...I was talking about you! I was just telling Amelia yesterday that the best jokes are the ones you've got to explain. It's because they're on a higher level, joke wise...see because the jokes go above the heads of the average funny-ness of an average person. So what I did there was explained the joke of explaining jokes which is why that's funny. Now we've gone full circle. That's funny.

Thanks to Amelia, these are AMAZING photos. P.S. The shoes are from J Crew, but they were originally white, I had them died to match the grooms tie :)

Wowzas! Amelia these pics are amazing! Nicole and Rich look so hot and the images capture how fun they are as a couple. Hippopotamus!
Thank you so much for allowing me and Jean to hang out with you and Justin for this wedding. We had so much fun and learned so much from you and Justin that day.
It's so awesome to see your finished images after seeing you contort your body all yoga-style to get those amazing angles you always capture. You seriously should teach a photo yoga class!
Love that picture below the ring shot! Sick!
