I shot these portraits of Jason Roger & Emily Ruth with their handsome little man Charlie a few months ago. I've been itching to post them for a while and now the time has finally come! Many of you may recall when Emily was pregnant with Charlie....oh how time flies! Jason Roger also shoots/assists with me from time to time, so it was way fun to photograph his sweet little family!

What was that? What would I take with me to a deserted island if I could only take three things? Jason, Emily and Charlie? Sorry, no. I'd take a Karate kid poster from my youth, a pencil and sweats.

As a photographer it's really awesome when a couple shows up for a shoot and then everything just flows seamlessly. This is how the engagement session with Connie + Stefan went, I didn't even take a crazy amount of images because I didn't need to. There was a rad chemistry between them and my camera! Loved every minute of this session!
Second favorite shot of the day!
Looking forward to the wedding in 2011!

Seats are now officially open for the LYON-SHOP Part 7!!! We will be holding this next one on DECEMBER 2ND, 2010 in the fantabulous city of Manhattan Beach, CA! Hurry, hurry and reserve your seat now by CLICKING HERE as seats are very limited!
The first shoot of LYON-SHOP day covers: client interaction, working with available light/shadows, creative posing, and different lenses for different situations.

This image makes me seriously LOL! Jesse Tenorio (one of our attendees) literally threw himself in front of my camera while I was in the middle of a shoot, catch the next photo to see the shot he got! You can also read about his experience at the LYON-SHOP by going to his blog post about it, thanks Jesse!
The second shoot of the day at the LYON-SHOP we cover: off camera lighting, creative use of flash and ambient light, how to capture lens flare.

Justin and I wanted to demonstrate how to shoot creative candids at a reception, so we had to do a reenactment of wedding guests dancing, so funny!
LOOOOOOVED all the attendees that came that day! Everyone got along so well and the sparks just continued to fly all day long! Thank you to all those that took time out of their busy lives to come and learn from us!
Here's a little recap of what went on at the LYON-SHOP Part 6 on September 28th, 2010. Justin + I had one of the best days with a fantastic group of attendees at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills!
Last, but of course not least, we would be no where without our FANTASTIC sponsors!!!
White House Custom Color
For those who really want to be part of the next LYON-SHOP, CLICK HERE to reserve your seat asap! Be sure to also visit our official LYON-SHOP site for more info!

I actually don't know of any specific books that teach off camera flash the way we use it. We learned from others and then added our own flare to it. I promise I'll teach it to you when you get to attend a LYON-SHOP:)

Hi Amelia! I would love to attend one of your workshops. But I live in Florida. Have you ever considered doing one in the east coast next year? I think I read a comment above that he lived in Chicago. I think Atlanta would be a good location.... for the east coast people to travel to. What do you think? Please let me know and I will be the first one to attend. Maybe you could do a post asking the east coast peeps about it. I'm sure you will get a good response. I know my friend and I will attend.

Wow, I can hardly contain myself!!! Justin & I have been itching for a few months now to show off these images we shot for Nancy from So Happi Together and Melissa from The Loveliest Day. We had to keep the photos on hush-hush until they were submitted and published in the Southern Weddings Magazine. Now I'm SO excited that the day has finally come to feature this amazing concept shoot on our blog!!!
The concept was put together by Nancy and Melissa, they named it Woven & Spun. Here are the featured spreads, plus some of my personal favorites that didn't quite make the cut for the final print.
Thank you to the lovely Southern Weddings Magazine ladies for the sweet feature! We feel honored, to say the least!
I also have to mention all the other vendors involved, everyone pulled together to make this concept shoot possible:
