I've been waiting to show off Stephanie + Michael's fun wedding with a Cinco De Mayo twist, which is fitting since their wedding took place on May 4th, but I needed to hold my breath until after this great wedding was featured on the Green Wedding Shoes Blog

We had such a lovely day working with Stephanie + Michael and we LOVED the stylist/event planning work of the Amorology Weddings team!!!

Trisha + Justin's wedding was R-A-D...RAD!!! Truly, it was fantastic! The entire wedding took place out in the deserts of Indio on the grounds of the Empire Polo Club where the annual Coachella Festival is held!

Both Trisha + Justin have worked Coachella for the past 11 years in marketing and production, and the desert remains their favorite place to be, so it was a no-brainer when deciding where they wanted to hold their wedding day!

I've been holding out on featuring this wedding on my blog because I submitted it first to Green Wedding Shoes for a feature, I knew this wedding would be perfect fit there! I was so happy that it got picked up, be sure to check out the post on the Green Wedding Shoes blog with more details given by Trisha the bride!

SUPER excited for a new year!! A new year of clients, resolutions, and just plain awesomeness! LOL!

I'm currently gathering all of my "best of" images to post for 2012, BUT before I do that I still have a few more weddings and portrait sessions I'd like to feature in full length because I feel like these deserve to be shown off!

One particular wedding that I LOVED and have yet to feature is Susan + Sean's big day! Justin and I have a fun time working with these two, we started the day off at the JW Marriott in downtown LA and then headed over to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for a fantastically and timelessly styled ceremony and reception.

One of my favorite parts about Susan + Sean's wedding was that we were able to work with some of our VERY favorite vendors in this industry. We had Nicole DeAnne for hair and make-up, Nancy and the So Happi Together team for planning and stylizing, and the Sweet And Saucy Shop for desserts! It was a great collaboration of vendors and artists!

I'm so excited that the day has finally come to show off Charles + Debbie's wedding! I've been holding off for some time because I wanted to wait until after this lovely wedding was featured on Green Wedding Shoes. This was truly a wonderful, detailed, sweet day and I am happy to have been part of it photographically!

I also loved working alongside other fantastic vendors like Nancy of So Happi Together,  Holly Flora, and Found Vintage Rentals. What a fantastic wedding team combo!

The entire wedding took place at the Smog Shoppe in Los Angeles, I always have a great time photographing this venue!

I've been waiting for quite some time to feature this engagement session! I submitted these images to be featured on Green Wedding Shoes and I was super excited when last Tuesday Charles + Debbie's engagement session went up on the Green Wedding Shoes Blog, click here to see the feature there with a super cute little write up about their story!

I love that Charles + Debbie went the extra mile and got their wedding coordinator Nancy from So Happi Together involved with stylizing this shoot. All the fun "extras" were provided by Found Rentals and Debbie's stunning hair & makeup was done by the very talented Nicole DeAnne!

I've been looking forward to Jay + Marissa's wedding for quite some time...especially since it was the first wedding Justin and I shot in 2012, starting our wedding season off with a fantastic day! Luckily for me, I've been able to take a few months off to spend time with my kids, but I'm super excited to be back in the game again!

When Justin and I arrived at the Santa Margarita Ranch we were squealing (well, I was at least, Justin was just happy) with excitement to 1. work with Jay + Marissa on their wedding day and 2. photograph this lovely bride and groom at such an AWESOME venue! We loved it!!

It's only appropriate that Jay had Yo Gabba Gabba! Vans on for his wedding, the Director of Photography for YGG had to represent!:) Plus, Jay + Marissa met on the set of Yo Gabba Gabba, so it made perfect sense to add in this small detail!
jm_wed_blog045.jpgMy favorite item of the day: Since Jay + Marissa aren't huge fans of dessert they opted to have a cheese wheel "cake" instead, I thought it was brilliant!

When I read other blogs with this many images, I think "TOOOO MAAANY!" When I read yours, I get to the end, and I'm sad it's over. You and Justin are ridiculous. I mean...just awesome. I appreciate you two pouring into me (and 20-ish other people) last year at the Lyon Shop. I also need to tell you how much I appreciate the way you love your kids. Really, really. I wish I lived nearby so that I could soak it up (and totally adopt you as my mom-mentor) once I have little kiddos. I suppose instagram will have to do. :) Anyways...totally random post but felt like I needed to share this with you today. Hope you're having a happy SoCal Friday! I love this modern maternity session! I photographed Connie along with her dog, husband and baby belly in and around their home in Downtown Los Angeles. It was fun working with all the modern lines, shadows, and city life...something different from any other maternity shoot I've done in the past.

This engagement session with Sarah + Gabe at the Union Station in Downtown LA renewed my love for photographing engagement sessions...not that I had fallen out of love with shooting engagement sessions, but when a fun couple comes along with a rad location, it gives me a good reminder of why I love being a "photographer of love". Cheesy as it may sound, it's true!:) Wow, just realized how many times I said the word "love" in that paragraph, lol!

Lauryn + Jimmy were married on August 14th, 2010. The day started off at one of my favorite hotels in LA called the SLS Hotel! I had the talented Denise Bovee by my side as a second shooter and Nick Radford as an assistant that day. Lauryn + Jimmy's wedding was full of so much eye candy that I almost had a creative overload. That's definitely a GOOD problem to have!

WARNING!!!! LONG POST AHEAD!!!!
As most of you know, Amelia is the one who does the majority of the posts on our blog. Well, the time has come for me, Justin, to post once again.

As many of you know, I had the fortunate, life-changing opportunity of going to Haiti recently. I spent two and a half of the most intense and rewarding weeks of my life there, and I happened to have my camera with me. The following photos will help tell some of the stories that I wish to share with you.

My love for Haiti goes back to 1996, when I went there for a couple of years to do missionary work. Prior to arriving in Haiti for the first time, I knew very little. I had heard about their vodou, the refugees fleeing to Florida and The Serpent and the Rainbow, but these vague labels tell very little of the Haitian people, the Haitian spirit, or the REAL Haiti that I would soon fall in love with.

Spending those young years of adulthood, in the service of the Haitian people, changed me and left an impression that would prove to last throughout my life. I fell in love. I fell in love with HAITI! I fell in love with the Haitians! I learned the language, Haitian Creole, and fell in love with their culture, their stories, their proverbs, their laughs, their smiles, their love, and their spirit. It is a spirit of humility, of giving, of resilience, and of a love for God.

Since '98 when I came back from my missionary work there, I have returned a few times. As you saw in a few posts back, I was even able to take Amelia there with me for a few weeks, so she could see where my love for Haiti and the amazing Haitians came from. She now sees what I see, why I call Haiti my second home.

As the world now knows, Haiti experienced a crippling blow on January 12th. The earth violently shook beneath what was already the poorest country in the western hemisphere, leaving a scar so deep that more than 200,000 people were left dead, a million now homeless, and an estimated 17 Billion dollars worth of damage! For the first few days after the quake, I was literally glued to the tv in shock as I took in any and all information about the quake that I could find. I was horrified and felt helpless! I wanted to be there and I wanted to help. I needed to be there! I needed to help! Long story short, while I was in Park City for Sundance, I found a group called the Utah Hospital Task Force that was planning a trip to Haiti. They were planning on taking 150 people - 50 Haitian Creole translators, 50 medical professionals and 50 construction professionals. The only problem was the group was scheduled to leave while I was still at Sundance. I applied on the outside chance that I would get accepted, and would figure it out from there.

I got accepted, and I had yet to ask Amelia's permission. I figured I'd try my chances at acceptance first, and if that day came I would see what she thought, knowing there would be many willing and ready to take my place were I to decline. Amelia is the sweetest, most compassionate and supportive wife of all time. She had the heart and the strength to allow me to go, while she stayed behind with our children, uncertain of what I was about to embark upon.

These photographs tell that story, of the two and a half weeks that I spent in Haiti!

On the flight over there, two of the female translators seated behind me were holding hands. The girl on the right is Haitian, and the girl on the left is American. A telling sign of what was to come.
haiti_blog001.jpg
We had 20 Pizza Hut pizzas delivered to us on the runway in Florida by a police escort, which was what the 82nd Airborne wanted in exchange to allow us to camp with them on one of the nicest soccer fields in Haiti! The power of pizza in a foreign country!
haiti_blog002.jpgThis was taken at 1am the night we landed on that Sun Country plane in Haiti! Thank you Sun  Country!
haiti_blog003.jpghaiti_blog004.jpgThis was our campsite. It was literally one of, if not THE, nicest place we could've camped in Haiti. Our group referred to it frequently as the Taj Majal.
haiti_blog005.jpghaiti_blog006.jpghaiti_blog007.jpghaiti_blog008.jpgThe oldest girl in this picture was left to care for her younger siblings while their parents went out for the day to try and work. I love how content she was at taking on this responsibility. This photo gets me.
haiti_blog009.jpgMore pictures of the kids. I LOVE the Haitian children. They melt my heart.
haiti_blog010.jpgThis was just one of the many "tent cities" that I saw in Haiti. They were always growing in number as the days went on. Notice they're actually not tents, but sheets strung across four branch posts.
haiti_blog011.jpghaiti_blog012.jpgThese orphan kids seriously made me laugh. They were so full of life and laughter. They never complained ever. In fact no one did. I wanted to take them all home with me!
haiti_blog013.jpgThis lady found an open spot of ground to lay her mat on for the night. This was in the courtyard of one of the LDS church buildings there.
haiti_blog014.jpgWhat was a parking lot in a church's courtyard by day, turned in to a camping spot at night. They had between 200-300 people sleeping in here every night. With no where else to go, this was their best option.
haiti_blog015.jpgThe man on the right is Steve Studdert! He was the leader of our group, and one of the men responsible for putting our group together. He worked some serious magic and was a pleasure to serve under! Here he is meeting two of the captains of the 82nd Airborne plotting our days treks.
haiti_blog016.jpg
This is what remains of the country's nursing school! I helped translate the story of one of the students who was going to school here. Her teacher didn't show up during an afternoon class period, so she felt prompted to return home. During her few moments at home, the earthquake struck, killing most of the students and instructors who remained at the school. Her story was sobering and touching.
haiti_blog017.jpgThere's something so telling of our time in Haiti in this photo. This doctor was sitting just inside the operating room at the General Hospital in downtown Port-Au-Prince.
haiti_blog018.jpghaiti_blog019.jpghaiti_blog020.jpgI spent most of my time translating for the doctors and nurses in the hospitals. This picture was taken inside the pediatric tent at the University of Miami tent hospital that was near the airport. This kid was so fun to talk to and hang out with. His spirit was admirable, and you'd never know that he had a broken leg.
haiti_blog021.jpgThese triplets were born just after the earthquake. I had to learn how to say triplets, because that is something I never encountered in any of my trips to Haiti.
haiti_blog022.jpg
"Gad Bless You" it says on this cast. The intention is there...
haiti_blog023.jpgI LOVE the look on this girl's face! She is soooooo excited to be up on her feet again. You can only imagine what it must be or feel like to think that you'll never be on your feet again. Physical Therapy is something they need way more of in Haiti!
haiti_blog024.jpgThis guy was one of my heroes!!! He was buried for 2 days after the earthquake. He was getting ready to go in to surgery here in this picture and was literally telling me that he wasn't afraid of anything. He kept saying, "you can stick me with needles, cut me up, whatever you want. Nothing can hurt me! I made it out alive!" Once again, never a complaint. Only words of thanks, gratitude, hope and LIFE!
haiti_blog025.jpg
One of the children in the pediatric tent didn't make it while I was there. It was a surreal, sad and haunting moment. Immediately after the residents in the tent caught word of it they instantly took to prayer, praise and thanks! Not the reaction you would normally expect. This lady was singing a hymn of praise.
haiti_blog026.jpg
This is the dear father of the girl that didn't make it. This really affected me, especially since we had to help this man understand what had just happened. Here he is giving a prayer of thanks to God that his daughter was able to be with him for the time that she was, and asking for her to be taken into His arms. It was a sobering moment, and made me instantly think of Hudson and Sloan - my own children. What if I were in his shoes? Would I be that strong? Would I be able to stand there and give thanks when the Lord hath taken away??? My heart broke for this man.
haiti_blog027.jpgThese transporters in the hospital took a moment to pray and give thanks. It was amazing to see their hearts instantly turn to God.
haiti_blog028.jpghaiti_blog029.jpghaiti_blog030.jpgHere is just two of the many people that I saw that had been given some sort of relief. The lady on the left had received a 100lb bag of rice that had obviously come from the US, and the lady on the left has a sack full of little bags of water.
haiti_blog031.jpg
Here is Steve, one of our translators, and a local leader as we were heading in to a tent city at a French school that had yet to see any medical help since the earthquake.
haiti_blog032.jpgAt the tent city for thousands of people that I mentioned in the prior photo, these people are all in line in the hopes of receiving a small, 12oz bag of water. It was tricky and demanding at times to organize the chaos.
haiti_blog033.jpgHere is a boy receiving medical attention at the clinic we had set up for the day at the tent city. I love the look on his face.
haiti_blog034.jpgIt was amazing to see how helpful the Scouts were to us at this tent city! Here they were living in a tent city, but yet they took care of their uniforms and wore them with pride! They would literally help us secure perimeters and then go out into the tent city seeking the injured and afflicted and help them come receive help and care! They definitely gave Scouts a good name. I'm proud to be an Eagle Scout!
haiti_blog035.jpghaiti_blog036.jpgI love this photo of a grandmother with grandson as he receives care for his painful foot wound.
haiti_blog037.jpgJustin Bowen, our group photographer from Las Vegas where he currently shoots for the Las Vegas Sun, playing some basketball with locals at the tent city. It made them so happy to have us there helping them and playing with them.
haiti_blog038.jpgLOVE the look of these two women in different generations! The one on the left was on a tap tap (the public transportation in Haiti), and the girl on the right was at one of the largest tent cities up in Petionville.
haiti_blog039.jpgSteve, Dr. Kirk and Brent analyzing the situation at the adult tent at the University of Miami's tent hospital. You'll notice the civil war like status of the conditions.
haiti_blog040.jpg
haiti_blog041.jpghaiti_blog042.jpghaiti_blog043.jpghaiti_blog044.jpgThe medical volunteers for the University of Miami hospital slept in here. They would typically be on for 12 hours and then off for 12 hours. You can only imagine that their conditions back home would seem paradisiacal in comparison. Talk about selfless, amazing people doing selfless amazing things!!!
haiti_blog045.jpghaiti_blog046.jpghaiti_blog047.jpghaiti_blog048.jpgSean Penn and Lt General Keen, a 3 star General. Sean Penn had been in Haiti since the earthquake with the JPHRO (Jenkins Penn Haiti Relief Organization). Hats off to him for being there on the ground since the quake doing work!
haiti_blog049.jpghaiti_blog050.jpghaiti_blog051.jpgThis is a room in the General Hospital downtown that was no longer safe to be in. Look at this photo. Not sure I'd want to be a patient in there even prior to the earthquake.
haiti_blog052.jpghaiti_blog053.jpghaiti_blog054.jpgTo show the spirit and resilience of the Haitian people, this little girl had to have her arm amputated and yet here she is getting water, and doing chores without a single complaint. She even talked to me while smiling.
haiti_blog055.jpghaiti_blog056.jpgThis lady was at the General Hospital downtown. She is 106 years old!!!
haiti_blog057.jpgThis little boy had a smile sooooo contagious that it made everyone that looked at him light up. His mother is in the foreground of this picture and I've never seen a kid bring so much joy to a mother. It was so comforting to see her love and affection for her child keep her mind off of her amputated right arm. In the foreground is the bandage. Again, she never complained and was too taken in by the joy of her child!
haiti_blog058.jpghaiti_blog059.jpgWhat remains of the National Palace.
haiti_blog060.jpghaiti_blog061.jpghaiti_blog062.jpghaiti_blog063.jpgTake a minute just to digest the devastation and destruction in this picture! It is INSANE! This was a typical neighborhood in Port-au-Prince.
haiti_blog064.jpghaiti_blog065.jpgThe imagination and creativity of the Haitian children is inspiring. Here they are in a tent city, yet they found sticks, string and plastic to make a kite with and they couldn't be happier! I especially love his pink sandals. He's just happy to be alive!
haiti_blog066.jpghaiti_blog067.jpghaiti_blog068.jpghaiti_blog069.jpgThis girl's story will melt your heart and make you mad at the same time! I became really close with her and her parents. If you would like to hear her story, make sure you ask me next time you see me. It is too intense to put up here on the blog. She had to have both of her feet amputated. It was hard delivering that message to her and her parents. Not the expression you'd expect to see from someone that had just had the surgery performed the day prior.
haiti_blog070.jpghaiti_blog071.jpghaiti_blog072.jpghaiti_blog073.jpghaiti_blog074.jpgAn impromptu group of people singing hymns of praise while we visited the Presidential Palace which you can see in the background. I love the juxtaposition of this picture.
haiti_blog075.jpgAn aerial view of the national Palace and the park in front of it that has now become a tent city. Any open space that people can find has now been turned into a tent city.
haiti_blog076.jpghaiti_blog077.jpghaiti_blog078.jpgSteve Studdert and Captain Reyes on our last night in Haiti. Captain Reyes and the 82nd Airborne were sad to see us leave. I will admit, we were all saddened to be leaving them and the Haitians as well.
haiti_blog079.jpgA self-portrait taken inside the airport. This was one of the mirrored doors that had shattered. The airport is unoccupied and all of the operations are being ran outside, which was quite loud to say the least.
haiti_blog080.jpgOur group saying goodbye to the 82nd Airborne after they dropped us off at the airport. It was such a blessing and a comfort to be able to stay with them.
haiti_blog081.jpgUpon arriving in Florida, one of our leaders John Nichols had McDonalds waiting for all of us. After having a diet of granola bars for breakfast and lunch and MREs for dinner for over two weeks, McDonalds (which I normally am disgusted by) had never sounded or tasted so good!
haiti_blog082.jpgWords will never be able to truly describe the impact this trip has had on me. It was one of the most intense, emotional, draining, rewarding, tiring and amazing things I have ever done! I will always remember it and I cannot wait to return. I have to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that donated to our group and to my trip! It was seriously life-changing and for this I am grateful.

In the words of Steve Studdert about our group: "we recently formed the largest non-military emergency aid task force to Haiti. I was privileged to be part of that team of extraordinary human beings who accomplished remarkable feats of heroism and service in Haiti. Countless were the broken lives blessed by this magnificent team of gifted medical professionals, indispensible Creole-speaking returned missionary translators, and knowledgeable construction specialists.

Our brothers and sisters in Haiti were experiencing incomprehensible suffering in what one U.N. official termed the worst human catastrophe in recorded history. With determination, compassion, unity, and a respect for the dignity of every Haitian, the team engaged their innovation, skills, and resources to bless those in Haiti who are hurt, homeless, and hungry. Our ability to serve came, to a great extent, from the freedom we enjoy in North America to make a difference, the freedom to act independently, to make our own decisions as to where and how we give of ourselves and our money. Our abundance, born of the American can-do spirit in our free society, made it possible. President Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, 'The test of our progress is not whether we add to the abundance of those who have much. It is whether we provide enough to those who have little.' Hopefully we added something to those in Haiti who have so very little."

What an amazing story though all of those photographs, I can not lie, I was sitting here with tears streaming down my face. It's unbelievable how much life, love and happiness the Lord brings into lives even through the extreme and devastating events that happen which are out of our hands. The photos tell many stories outside of just of what you had the chance to share with us. I hope and pray their lives get better each day and their faith keeps them going! Words cannot describe these photos. It was like looking at the Big Picture. You truly captured every emotion there. I'm glad you were able to make it down to help. I think so many people want to do more, but just can't. You should make this into a book and give the proceeds to a Haiti relief fund of some kind. Heaven knows they still need all the help they can get.

I am holding back tears of joy as I read this. I am so happy that you were able to use your "skills" to help the people of Haiti. Over the summer, while in NY, my friends I and briefly felt the love and happiness of the Haitian people when we danced and chatted with in Central Park. I will never forget that night. When the earthquake hit all I could think of was the families of those dear people that I met there at the park. I have very few photos of that night, but I have audio that is like no other (here come the tears). Thanks for the photos and stories. Hopefully one day I will be able to visit Haiti and feel that love again.

Even though I am crying sad tears to see what has happened, they are also tears of happiness. Your images capture the joy the Haitians have, regardless of what they do not have. This is just another example of how we all need to live every day with a smile on our face, thanking God for the life we have. I am so thankful you were there to help them in this time. What an amazing trip! It's hard to fathom the aftermath of the earthquake when it seems so far from home... even with all the stuff we see on the news. It's hard to figure out how one person can make a difference especially with something of this magnitude. It's awesome that you took advantage of an opportunity like this to do something for a country and people you love. Jean and I recently came upon a quote by Mother Teresa that really inspired us. It goes "We cannot all do great things... but we can do small things with great love". Awesome, huh? Anyway.. can't wait to see you at WPPI and throw some high fives!

Beautiful post Justin. I am so glad that you took the time to go down. I'm happy to see a good photographer doing work for the greater good. I live in Chile, and while the situation isn't as dire here as it is in Haiti, that doesn't make it any less devastating for the thousands who lost their homes. I am also trying to help by doing fundraisers and taking videos/pictures to show what it's like here. I hope more people are moved to take action and donate money to Haiti and Chile because of your post.

Lindsey contacted me a few months ago to book a portrait session with her newly married man Mike! I noticed at the bottom of her email a link to her blog, so I decided to click and suddenly, 15 minutes later, I was still looking at her beautiful work! I always get so flattered when other talented photographers contact Justin and I to schedule a portrait session. It's really humbling to shoot and provide a product for someone else that can really appreciate all of the hard work that goes into a simple portrait session.

We shot Lindsey + Mike right before Christmas in Palm Springs. We started their session out at the Viceroy Hotel and then courageously ventured out toward the desert to the windmills (I say "courageously" because the winds were INSANELY fast that day and there was all sorts of dust and debris flying around in the air, but the light and backdrop was too amazing to pass up).

I absolutely ADORED this shoot because of all the thought Lindsey put into her "look" and outfits (Mike looked dashing as well). You'll see what I mean below. Plus, to make things even better Lindsey hired Nicole DeAnne to come out for hair & make-up...it was a RAD shoot, to say the least!
lm_001.jpg
lm_002.jpglm_003.jpgLindsey's friend got her these amazing large head-pieces for the shoot, I was in love with each one!
lm_004.jpgThe desert and windmills! Totally worth the trip! Lindsey + Mike were troopers.
lm_005.jpgI heart this shot by Justin.
lm_006.jpgLindsey's shoes rocked out! You can't go wrong with Christian Louboutin.

lm_018.jpgHands down, this is my FAVORITE shot of the day!

In 2003 Justin took me to Haiti to visit for three weeks. He wanted to show me where he had lived and served for two whole years. He wanted to show me the beauty of the county he felt was his second home. He wanted me to discover the culture and people he had fallen in love with while serving selflessly. On that trip I saw the most amazing sites, met the most lively and spirited people, and saw why my husband loved the Haitian people so much! I also saw the deplorable conditions these people lived in and was in awe at their strength and endurance and happiness, despite their lack of living supplies.

This is Justin and I in a river swimming with the Haitians, that was a really great day!
haiti_001.jpg
Justin had tried to make his way back many times and oddly enough became friends with Wyclef Jean just by approaching him and talking to him in his native language (Haitian creole...Justin is fluent). In 2006 Justin was invited to go with Wyclef (now an ambassador for Haiti) back to Haiti to be Wyclef's personal photographer. Justin documented the trip while Wyclef's non-profit organization Yele served the people, and as Wyclef performed at the big Carnival celebration that year.
haiti_002.jpghaiti_003.jpghaiti_004.jpghaiti_005.jpghaiti_006.jpghaiti_007.jpghaiti_008.jpghaiti_009.jpghaiti_010.jpghaiti_011.jpghaiti_012.jpghaiti_013.jpg
On January 12th, 2010 the earth shook beneath the Haitians and left their entire country in shambles and left nearly 50,000 dead. Justin heard about this and IMMEDIATELY began pulling from all of his connections (anyone who knows my husband can attest to the fact that he definitely is a man with connections) to organize clothes, shoes, and funds to be donated to help those in need. He also began researching how he could make his way back to Haiti to help the people he once served with love. On Saturday, January 23rd, Justin received word that he would be able to go with a group to travel to Haiti to help translate and offer a helping hand. Today Justin is on his way to Haiti for another three weeks! This is part of the email he sent out to all of our friends and family:

"Hello Friends and Family!!! I am writing this email as I prepare to go down to Haiti for 3 weeks to help with the Earthquake Relief efforts! As many of you know, I did missionary work down there for 2 years, and have a sincere love and affection for the Haitian people. I have been heartbroken since the devastating earthquake, and have been anxious to get down there to be of service to my Haitian friends and family. I speak Haitian Creole fluently and have found a group going that is in dire need of translators. There are 150 of us going (50 translators, 50 medical professionals, and 50 construction professionals) under the banner of Utah Hospital Task ForceThe Utah Hospital Task Force will be traveling to Haiti within the authorization of USAID, and operating under the umbrella of Healing Hands for Haiti.

Through USAID, our tasking is highly organized. Upon arrival we will first set up camp as expeditiously as possible, then begin to serve as directed by USAID and UN officials. Our first priority is life saving - to get the Healing Hands clinic operating so that it can treat patients. We are also going to be bringing Orphans back on the plane that drops us off! ForEveryChild.org has confirmed 70 orphans cleared for release. A large percentage of these are two or so years old!

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH in advance for supporting me and my family as I embark on this sure to be life changing trip! I look forward to telling you all about it!

Please follow along at http://www.facebook.com/justinlyon and http://www.twitter.com/justinlyon for my personal account. You can also see what the group is up to at http://www.utahhospitaltaskforce.blogspot.com and follow them at http://www.twitter.com/uhtf

Mesi Anpil Zanmi'm Yo!!! (Thank You So Much My Friends!!)"

I am SO PROUD of my husband for giving up his time and talents to go help those in need. I feel such a deep love for my husband and see what a huge heart he has. I know he will be doing the work of God and helping the people of Haiti. I only have 21 more days until I get to see him again and I know he'll do an amazing job. I love you sweetheart! The boys and I will be praying for you to have a safe and successful trip and to arrive safely back home to us!

I follow you both on Twitter, and I think it's amazing Justin is able to go for 3 weeks! I've been to Port Au Prince on medical missions the past three years, and will be going back (Lord willing) in March for a fourth trip. We support Roberta Edwards, an amazing American woman that runs a foster home for 30 kids and a nutrition program that feeds around 100 kids 2 meals a day. (More info at www.estes.tn.org.) Haiti and her people hold a very special place in my heart, and I'm so excited for the good Justin will do when he is there. I'll be praying for your family!

He held wyclefs hand and was doing some hand raising bouncing thing... Wyclef said this kid has rythym. It was so awesome! What your husband is doing is amazing!! I am a little jealous too. Wendy + Sunup were married on October 3rd. While Justin was unavailable that day, I brought out the lovely and very talented Denise Bovee to second shoot with me. Wendy + Sunup, or should I say "Wenup" (what is this? scroll down and you'll see) were super sweet and beyond happy on this big day. You can see their happiness is very obvious and very apparent in their images!

Now that you've seen their engagement session we are ready to unveil the wedding of Claudine + David! They were married on September 19th at the Sacred Heart Chapel on the campus of LMU with a sweet reception that followed with their closest friends and family.

Claudine + David were great in front of our cameras, although they did admit that it felt super weird for them and sort backwards. Both Claudine and David are talent producers by day and are usually working behind the scenes with photographers and stylists for their clients. I thought it was great that they finally got to be the ones in the lime-light on their wedding day!

My favorite item of the day, Claudine's shoes!

On October 18th my little baby turned two and now he's actually a little boy! Sighhhhh, no longer a baby.

Here are a few fun facts about Sloan:
1. He wants to be just like his big brother Hudson
2. Loves to eat avocado, rice, beans, yogurt, and "eggies"...and that's pretty much it
3. Knows how to say his own prayers...sorta:)
4. His favorite character on Yo Gabba Gabba! is Foofa
5. Has a slight obsession with pigs and has a collection that is currently growing
6. Loves to dress up in hats, daddy's shoes, or even sometimes mommy's heals
7. Likes to repeat things he hears others say (believe us, we learned that the hard way!)
8. Favorite place to play is on mommy and daddy's bed, loves to bounce and wrestle on it
9. He can't get enough of Hudson, "Hudson, wook at me" or "Hudson, do it again"
10. ALWAYS wants mommy to "hold you"
11. He's the best snuggler ever!
12. Has his Grandpa Lyon's brown eyes
13. Asks us about twenty times a day, "uh-go-bye-bye?" (translation: I want to go bye-bye)
14. Has to sleep with his "froggy-bwankie" and his "whitning makeen bwanket" every night
15. If you ask him what his name is he says "I'm Swoanie"
16. He'll come up to mommy & daddy and say "Uh kisses!" and lay a big wet one one us!
17. Favorite band is Vampire weekend, really!
18. Sloan is lost without Hudson when Hudson goes to preschool and asks constantly, "mommy, where's Hudson?"
19. Walks around the house singing to himself, "I wike to move it, move it! I wike to move it, move it"
20. Best thing Sloan says is, "I wove you mama, I wove you dada, I wove you Hudson"

We took these photos on Sloan's birthday, it was such a great day...I love my little family!

This was THE wedding to be at on September 12th of 2009! Dani + Sean were married in Napa Valley at The Carneros Inn. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING about this wedding was ultra-fabulous and the details were mind blowing! This day definitely made our top-ten list for weddings and Dani + Sean were a stellar couple to work with! Their theme was "an enchanted forest", and there was this sweet organic and dreamy feel throughout every aspect. Dani + Sean hired the amazing crew of Sillapere to be behind the scenes and make all of the magic come to life. Sillapere did a phenomenal job at it too! Ladies and gents we give you Dani + Sean's wedding!

LOVED how dreamy Dani's dress was!
sdwed001.jpgAnd how can any girl go wrong with green shoes?!
sdwed002.jpgsdwed003.jpgsdwed004.jpgsdwed005.jpg
sdwed006.jpgsdwed007.jpgsdwed008.jpgsdwed009.jpgsdwed010.jpgsdwed011.jpgsdwed012.jpgsdwed013.jpgThe winner for the favorite item of the day: Sean's amazing custom suit from Lord Willy's of New York! Justin was drooling over it all day long! I really like the idea of the groom spending a good amount of thought, time, and money on his suit. So many times we see rented suits, but come-on gentlemen...this IS your wedding day too. Why not drop it like its hot for such a memorable day, one that will only come around once in a lifetime?!
sdwed014.jpgDoesn't Dani make a gorgeous bride?! See what I was saying about her dress...dreamy, right!
sdwed015.jpgsdwed016.jpgsdwed017.jpgsdwed018.jpgsdwed019.jpg
sdwed020.jpgsdwed021.jpgMy Favorite shot of the day! Love the view of the wine country behind them!
sdwed022.jpgsdwed023.jpgsdwed024.jpgLet the details begin, here are some from the ceremony:
sdwed025.jpgsdwed026.jpgsdwed027.jpgsdwed028.jpgsdwed029.jpgDetails from the cocktail hour (also one exception from the ceremony on the top right), I REALLY dug the all of the tree and wood sculptures that scattered the grounds of this venue for the wedding.
sdwed030.jpgThe invitations and hand written calligraphy:
sdwed031.jpgsdwed032.jpgsdwed033.jpgRoom details from reception #1. This room was used for dinner and speeches. My favorite part about this setup was they vine tent with chandeliers suspended throughout the middle.
sdwed034.jpgsdwed035.jpgsdwed036.jpgAgain, Justin's brilliant mind put to work with this ring shot!
sdwed037.jpgsdwed038.jpgDetails from reception #2. Once dinner was over the guests were excused to a second room where dancing, cake cutting, and dessert took place. Notice the second version of the vine tent that helped carry over the continuity of the evening.
sdwed039.jpgsdwed040.jpgThe parents of the bride and groom congratulating each other on the dance floor.
sdwed041.jpgPlease, please, please click here to view more of our favorite images from this fabulous wedding. We had such a rough time narrowing down our favs for this post so the rest are featured in this slideshow. Check it out if you have a few minutes to spare!

Last, the next day Dani + Sean hosted a brunch for all of their out of town guests. We decided to stop by on our way out of town to check out more amazing work done by Sillapere, also to capture a few more details for Dani + Sean.

Jeff + Jane were married on August 29th and had a sweet reception at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. We really like the open feel of this venue, very down-to-earth. You may recall Jeff + Jane's faces from their engagement session we posted back in April. Two things that I thought were sweet touches to the overall look to Jeff + Jane on their wedding day were: 1. Jane's simple, yet classic hair-do with make-up (compliments of Nicole DeAnne) & 2. Jeff's classic black suit with bow-tie.

My favorite item of the day: Jane's shoes! I'm a die-hard for a good pair of heels!

Kaitlyn + Jordan were married on August 14th in San Diego. I simply ADORED this wedding, not just because Kaitlyn happens to be my sweet cousin, but because every little detail was thought up and executed directly with their wedding theme of "beside the seaside" with a vintage twist. I thought that the theme and the day played out super well and I've never witnessed an idea that flowed more perfectly. You may recognize Kaitlyn + Jordan from the engagement session we shot a few months back in Laguna Beach.

Congrats to Kaitlyn + Jordan for an amazing wedding day and an additional kudos to Heather Balliet (and her hard working team) of Amorology Weddings for throwing the whole chibang together so beautifully!

jkwed016.jpgjkwed017.jpgI've decided that I'm going to start another tradition with my wedding posts, it's called "my favorite item of the day", and here it is...the groom's boutonniere, simple amazing!
jkwed018.jpgKaitlyn had three pairs of shoes total for that day, here is shoe set #2.
