Happy New Year from my family to yours! I had GOOD intensions of sending out an actual card this year, but I'm like the therapist that can't solve her own problems, LOL... I was too busy shooting and getting everyone else their images for their Christmas cards that I ran out of time to do my own. ANYWAY, I figured I could at least wish you all a Happy New Year via my blog!
2012 was a WONDERFUL year full of FUN clients, RAD vendors, and AWESOME new friends! I am beyond THANKFUL for all the people I've been blessed to work with and meet this past year. I have an overwhelming feeling of GRATITUDE for the blessing of my sweet little family and the growth they've all made during the past twelve months!
"2013....IT'S GONNA BE A GOOD ONE!" That's my motto for this year, so many GOOD things in store, I'm getting excited just thinking about it!
Thank you to the talented Lyndzee Ellsworth of EP Love for capturing my little family, I love this photo! It's so us!

Santa Monica?! You guys have really been moving on up from good ole' Fullerton ... Lyon Shop Uno. To anyone on the fence -- GO TO THE LYON SHOP. I went before I ever shot a wedding (almost exactly a year ago) ... and what I learned from Amelia and Justin became the foundation for my business ... from post processing (it's changed a lot over the year, but I learned SO much about it at the workshop), to branding and client meetings and interaction, lens flare, shooting, I could go on and on ... but I already wrote 2 books here :) :)

Yippeeee! We are VERY pleased to announce that MATT & WENDY have won our Big Wedding Photography Giveaway! This was a SUPER-DUPER hard decision to make (even after tallying up all of the votes), all of the finalists collectively brought in a total of over 1,400 votes! After reading through all of the votes and comments we feel a connection with each of the five finalists. We never anticipated such a huge response and have seen an OUTPOURING of support from loved ones and fellow blog followers. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone that participated for helping us make this all possible!
To Matt & Wendy, you will be receiving the following:
-up to 8 hours wedding day coverage
-online proofing
-two photographers (including myself & Justin)
-engagement session
-one 11x14 15 spread flush mount album from Renaissance Albums
-high resolution digital negatives on disc provided at one year anniversary
To the other four finalists, since we have fallen in love with each one of you and we feel strongly that you shouldn't have to walk away empty handed, we want to give each one of you an engagement session! This includes:
-up to two hours coverage
-online proofing
-high resolution digital negatives on disc
BUT, that's not it!! We have the most amazing and talented friends! Five other photographer friends of ours have let us know that they also would like to pitch in! They would like to shoot the other four weddings! So, each of these finalists couples is going to get their wedding shot for free (if they would like) by one of the following photography studios:
This is obviously based on the availability of each photography studio, etc. So if each of the couples would please email me at amelia@amelialyon.com, we will put you in touch with the other photographers and get the ball rolling!
Congratulations again to Matt & Wendy, we can't wait to meet you in person! We also want to take a quick minute to thank Renaissance Albums for generously donating a beautiful wedding album and Fotofafa for sponsoring the post processing!
Thank you again to everyone that supported, voted, commented, and participated! HAPPY NEW YEAR! See you all in 2010!
*More to come in the next few weeks: Best of from 2009, Best ring shots from 2009 & our last four weddings of 2009!!!

Introducing the fabulous duo photography team that make up EPLOVE...Lyndzee and Roger! We first were drawn into a friendship with these two amazing and talented individuals after the MANY fabulous and entertaining comments Roger would leave on our blog. His writing definitely caught our interest and we linked through to his and Lyndzee's blog out of curiosity. We thought they looked pretty cool and would possibly be fun to hang out with (especially since they also have two adorable kids of their own) so we set up a lunch to meet up and we've been friends ever since! They asked us to book a session and we were delighted, to say the least! With Lyndzee's awesome sense of style and Roger's awesome sense of humor, it was pretty much a guarantee for a rad shoot!
Below are just a few of my favorite comments left by The-Rog:
"Hey you two. I just wanted to let you know that if you ever want to come over and read me a bedtime story...be my guest. Just bring some haitian food and long necked bottle root beer and we'll party, then you can read me a bedtime story...just as we discussed previously. I like you. Both. Around the same amount. of like. between the both of you. ok now. stay sexy."
"Will you stop amazing me in this lifetime? Let me use a lifeline, no wait...phone a friend. Hold on...it's ringing, it's ringing..."Hello, yeah I need your help. Will the Lyons ever stop amazing me in this lifetime? What are you laughing at? Stop laughing, wait...what was that...not in my lifetime or the next. Ok thanks". This is my final answer, Not in this lifetime or the next. Thanks for the time of your eyes and brain to read this. Now my life is complete."
Super funny and pretty amazing...right?!
Are you a fan of Lyndzee's hair piece?! Check out her online store called Lady Vintique, everything is carefully sought out and hand crafted by her! Ps. She gave me this headband at the end of the shoot and I was BEYOND ecstatic!

Your awesomeness transcends oceans, we are 2 aussies (well one half aussie, one half floridian livin down under) completely blown away and inspired by your work. (joining a long list obviously). Not only is your art a great driving point for us as we learn and experiment, but you seem to be such a rad couple, truly, no wonder everyone wants to be your friends. So with love, from another pair of married snappers, from across the oceans, where the kan'gas and koalas hang, the air is fresh and 2 people love what you do! One day, when we grow up, we wanna be you!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so stoked on this next wedding I can hardly stand it!!! You may recognize this rockin' couple from the engagement session we shot just a few weeks before their wedding.
Patrick + Irma were married on March 28th at the St. Andrew Church in Pasadena and had a ultra fabulous reception that followed at The Castle Green. This was one of those days that just kept getting better and better, not just in feeling, but visually too with style and class. It was a photographer's dream! Irma + Patrick's wedding will definitely go down in the books as one of our favorite weddings!
It all started off with a chandelier, a hand-made wedding dress (compliments to Irma's mother for her amazing craftmanship!), and Christian Dior shoes...
I want that chandelier! Love this prep image of Irma:)
Patrick added a personal touch to his groom outfit with amazing slacks he made himself! Also, his shoes were the best I've seen on a groom, I might add!
Second favorite shot of the day, by Justin!
The lovely Irma had her hair and make-up done by...wait for it....Nicole DeAnne, of course!
Since Justin sprained his ankle just a few weeks prior we had Roger Ellsworth and Jason Roger out to help us that day. This next shot was taken by THE ROG!
Man, oh man, it was a super tough call, but THIS IS my favorite shot of the day!!! Everyone just looks so hot!
Irma's mother also made all of the bridesmaids dress and hair-pieces...I know, her mom is reeeeeally talented!
The lady mariachi band was a great touch to the opening of the reception!
This was a sweet and emotional moment when Irma + Patrick thanked each other and their parents for everything in life and help with the wedding.
Recognize this guy??? Not only is he Patrick's father, but he's pretty famous too! Larry Winget, ladies and gentlemen! Check him out by clicking here!
So, to top off the night, Irma changed into yet ANOTHER hand-made dress (made by her mother of course) to party in for the rest of the evening. She also switched her hair-piece to match with her lady friends.
And last, this post would not be complete without a snapshot of us with the amazing bride and groom!
Please, oh please, click here to view the rest of Patrick + Irma's day, I had a super hard time narrowing down the photos for this post so I included them in their slideshow.
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Winget!
