There are so many wonderful moments that I feel extremely blessed to be a part of and photograph. One of the most amazing things I've had the opportunity to photograph and witness are the births of my little nieces. Many of you may recall Lucy's birth story and Lola's birth story. What an emotional roller coaster, yet it's such a spiritual experience, photographs do not do it justice. I was thrilled when Jill and Kenny told me that they wanted me to be there to photograph the birth of their second baby girl Jade. What an intimate experience, to be honest I debated whether or not if I should blog these, but the images are too remarkable to not share (plus, I have the blessing from Kenny + Jill to share). Not to worry, I kept it clean!:) So here you go, let the images speak for themselves and tell this wonderful birth story of Jade Matilda!
Kenny liked adding a bit of comic relief by making silly faces while I was shooting!LOL!
I'm SO happy I get to have another beautiful niece in my life! Jade Matilda this aunt already loves you so much!

Many of my readers may recognize Jill from her last maternity session! That shoot was one of my favorite maternity sessions, Jill came up with the concept of her and Kenny on a boat and around the docks. I wondered what Jill would come up with for her second maternity session that would top the last shoot. Well, she did it, she came up with the idea of having herself photographed in a grocery store, filling her cart with all the crazy things women crave when they're pregnant, all the while being a total glam-mama! It was super fun, definitely a step out of the box for me, and we were giggling the entire time! LOL! LOVE this maternity session Jill! Great idea!

Was permission given to do this shoot before the grocery store was open? Was it a mom and pop grocery store? Reason I ask because all the big named grocery stores will not let you photograph in their stores because of their branding and marketing. Just like you couldn't decide to do a photo shoot in a target store because you would be on thier property photographing their brand (regardless of how little) for commercial purposes (Phtoo shoot for client). If you did this stealthy I am pretty impressed you got it done without being thrown out.

Same question Amelia, did you ask permission first before shooting in the grocery store? We've had a couple 'togs around here do TTD's in grocery stores and they never responded as to how they cleared it first. And they did it like in Albertson's. How'd ya do that? :)

When I joined my family on a little trip to Zion National Park, Kenny & Jill asked if I wouldn't mind shooting some family photos there. I thought it was a GREAT idea, such a rad setting to work with and shoot against, plus Lola is at the most ADORABLE stage right now, I was excited!
Kenny runs the most amazing post processing company called Fotofafa. You've heard me drop that name from time to time, Fotofafa does all the post processing of my proofed images and to say that I LOVE this company is an understatement. I'm proud to be an affiliate of theirs because I believe in the product and service that they provide!
I can't believe that it's been 17 months since Lola Dee came into our family! She makes us all so happy! PS. I heart her pigtails!:)

Lola Dee was born to Kenny + Jill on April 22nd, 2010! What a sweet day that was!
My good friend Sarah made all of these little book covers of famous children's books as cupcake toppers.
We had all of the guests make a page to go in Lola's first alphabet book.
I remember a conversation before Jill announced that she was pregnant (I had a hunch that she was), she said that she wanted me to shoot her first birth story. This was a pleasant surprise, I just figured as her sister in-law I wouldn't be in the room when it was time for Jill to give birth. Then a few months later she announced that she was 5 months pregnant!! She hid it pretty well, but I was SO excited and looked forward to the day that I got to spend in the hospital ready to meet Kenny + Jill's first baby!
I have to admit that I cried a little editing these next four photos. Ohhhh, the whirlwind of emotions labor brings, and it was so sweet to see Kenny caring for Jill during her tough hours of pushing.
My favorite shot of the day!
I do have to give shout out to Kenny for the amazing job he is doing as a dad, I'm a proud sister! Also, an even bigger shout-out to his AMAZING post processing company FOTOFAFA for continually giving my business beautiful proofed images and the freedom to take time for my personal life! If you own a photography business and aren't outsourcing your post processing, I would HIGHLY recommend doing that now and I would definitely recommend using Fotofafa's services!

Those of you who have been following along on twitter, know that Justin and I have had a few crazy last couple of months. Just over the two months of March and April I helped put on two baby showers, shot three birth stories, threw a birthday party, and gained two new nieces! I've wanted to blog all of this, but with wedding season in full swing life has been pretty tied up. So before the moment sweeps me away I've decided to clump together some of these events to make it a little easier. I'm going to start with the story of LUCILLE AMELIA! Justin and I shot Nicole & Jeff's maternity session a few months ago and so this is the continued stream of events.
Let's begin with Nicole's baby shower. Jill, my mom, and I put this on. We went with a theme of Lucille Lollipop. I didn't get to stay very long though because on that very same day my cousin Ruth gave birth to her beautiful baby girl Davy Jean. I was so honored to have had the opportunity to shoot that birth story (it was my first), click here to see Ruth's blog post about Davy Jean's birth story as well as read about Davy Jean's inspiring story of survival.
Before I left to the hospital I was able to capture a few details from Nicole's baby shower.
Lucy is now 6 weeks old! Coming up, a post featuring Kenny & Jill with my wonderful second niece LOLA DEE, it'll also include the shower, the birth story, as well as a few portraits!

Oh man, some of these shots are just so phenomenal! Awesome job Amelia. I absolutely LOVE the close up shot of lucy and the shots of her with mom and dad over here. Killer job, and good choice with blogging it before you completely forgot about it and let it go! I always love seeing what new work you have to show.
