Justin and I had SO much fun playing with natural and off camera light at Chris + Kelly's wedding back in November! The day started out sunny in Palm Springs, but as we drove up the mouton toward Riley's Farm in Oak Glen, everything turned to very rainy in a matter of minutes. One would think that this weather madness would ruin such detailed wedding plans, but in Chris + Kelly's sake (also with amazing help of Chris' mom and sister) it only added to the beauty and emotion of their wedding day!
When we arrived at Riley's Farm the rain was pouring down and the ceremony got moved indoors and it was PERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL!
The emotion of this moment...Kelly's first sight of the ceremony set up and all the guests in attendance...I may or may not have shed a tear!
This beautiful cake and dessert station by Sweet and Saucy Shop!
So thankful for clients like Kelly + Chris, so much happiness and so much joy radiate from these two! Check out their slideshow!

What a sweet wedding day Ben + Jeannie had! We started the day off in Newport Beach and then headed over the Strawberry Farms for a daytime reception. It was great working with such an easy going couple, zero stress, just love and enjoyment!

This Christmas was one of the best holidays to date! For the first time both of my boys were totally into the whole baby Jesus and Santa Claus thing. They both could understand and logic why we celebrate Christmas. Their little enthusiastic spirits have made this Christmas season filled with so much joy, laughter, and excitement! I feel beyond happy for the many things I have been given in my life. My loving husband, my wonderful children, a talent that I find complete happiness in, wonderful clients, a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, food in my tummy, and a firm faith that Jesus is the Christ. There is a deep gratitude I have for the sacrifice He made for each one of us. I don't mean to get all preachy, but for this time of year I feel it is only appropriate. Merry Christmas to all!
Here is Hudson making his Christmas scribble letter to Santa...too cute! Do you like his backwards "s"?!
Hudson & Sloan were so excited to see that Santa had eaten some of the cookies they left out for him.
Now that Christmas is over, we are looking forward to an amazing new year! There is so much to look forward to, so many more amazing people to work with, and many more blessings to be had! Here's the Lyon family wishing all of you Happy Holidays and a VERY Merry Christmas!
PS. Keep a look out for our next post on the 28th where we will announce the top three submissions for our big Wedding Photography giveaway! There is still some time to send in submissions, so if you know of any deserving couples please email amelia@amelialyon.com.

Jeff + Jane were married on August 29th and had a sweet reception at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. We really like the open feel of this venue, very down-to-earth. You may recall Jeff + Jane's faces from their engagement session we posted back in April. Two things that I thought were sweet touches to the overall look to Jeff + Jane on their wedding day were: 1. Jane's simple, yet classic hair-do with make-up (compliments of Nicole DeAnne) & 2. Jeff's classic black suit with bow-tie.
My favorite item of the day: Jane's shoes! I'm a die-hard for a good pair of heels!

Melissa + Bryan are works of art, literally! I was super drawn to them when I first met them months back at our consultation meeting. I loved their style, look, and attitude. When we were planning their engagement session I was super excited because I had been waiting for the perfect couple that would fit a specific location I had been eyeing for a while now. We made our way to one of the many abandoned farm houses in Chino. Melissa + Bryan definitely were the the best for this location look and feel. I had a crazy hard time narrowing down the images for this post, so I'm posting more than usual for an engagement session, but I truly am in love with the session as an overall work of art.
Wedding soon to follow in a few weeks!

Jeramy + Shelley were completely fabulous to work with, I think we had an extra rad time since Jeramy is family (well, now Shelley is too!). Anyway, Jeramy is Justin's first cousin and he and his lovely fiancee emailed us right after they got engaged. We were ecstatic that they chose us to photograph their wedding because for one, we've been wanting to have an excuse to visit Justin's family in Idaho, and for two, the idea of shooting in Idaho sounded amazing with all of the farmlands mixed with urban brick buildings! We could hardly wait! As we got to know Shelley, via our emails, we fell in love with her personality and were more than happy that she was joining our family!
Jeramy + Shelly scoped out a few locations for us before we arrived and the first location was absolute genius!
Two major pluses to this marriage are Shelley's two adorable daughters!!! Jeramy is a lucky guy!
My favorite shot of the day!
Don't worry Shelley, your secret is safe with us! ;)
Justin's crazy attempt at getting a better angle...
...WELL worth it!
Anyone recognize the pattern behind them?!
Balloons, balloons, balloons make me happy!
Don't we make a HOT couple!!?! :)
Hudson having a drink with his cousin.
Congrats, congrats, congrats to Jeramy + Shelley, we love you both! Can't wait for our trip to Disneyland together! Click here to see their slideshow!
